Honeysuckle Farm has two breeds of cow; Jerseys and Herefords.
The Jersey cows on the farm provide milk for the fresh ice cream made in the Honeysuckle Farm’s own creamery.
*Remember this is the only place in East Yorkshire where you can watch cows being milked – every day at 1.30pm come rain or shine, lots of visitors or just a few you can watch Daisy and Primrose the Jersey cows being milked and then sample the ice cream in a cone or sundae from our tea room or shop. Don’t forget litres are available to buy to take home and enjoy.
Jersey cows are very friendly and love to meet people. Primrose is a second year milker and Daisy is a first year milking heifer. There are two other Jersey cows on the farm Gail and Jemima that are resting this year and will not be milked. There is also a new calf on the farm called Buttercup and a second Jersey calf will be born in early March 2008.

Hereford cows, or beasts, are bred for beef and are much bigger and stockier than Jersey cows and are red and white in colour. The farm’s bull is a Hereford. He is called Amos. Hereford calves will be born throughout the year.

REMEMBER every cow in the country has to have a passport and eartag so that its movements can be checked at all times.
